Transcription: The first step in conducting legal research is to visit your local law library. Most counties have a law library located near the county courthouse. Law libraries contain form books, case books, and volumes of laws known as statutes. Most case books look like this, and most statute books look like this. To find a particular statute by name, such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, ask the law librarian for the popular name table and look up the statute.
